DevOps System Engineer (m/f)

Our office in Sarajevo, the development center of BPU Holdings, has a team of experts that are working on developing software for AEI (artificial emotional intelligence). Since we have demanding projects that require not only top-level knowledge but also a passion for continuous learning and advancement, we are looking for talents who will live the mission and vision that we nurture and grow with us.

Essential functions 

• Work effectively in a team environment to monitor, log, resolve and escalate issues with development, test and production servers,
• As needed, provide after-hours support of company’s server environments including, but not limited to, issue resolution, customer/core installations, and server monitoring,
• Follow the established operations procedures to ensure timely resolution or escalation of issues,
• Act as liaison for internal and external communications directly with departments as required. Provide regular status reports and gather requirements from departments and provide input into the infrastructure products that are bought or built,
• Document and maintain operational procedures, develop and oversee project plans and implement change control procedures. Participate in technical advisory roles, as required. Mentor operations specialists and foster a learning and growth environment,
• Interact with customers at the technical level, as required.

Job Responsibilities

• Oversees computer applications and operating system to ensure proper use,
• Analyzes problems, determine a cause and initiates corrective action,
• Develops clear and concise documentation, instruction manuals, 
• Provides in-service and other forms of continuing education of software and hardware to users,
• Coordinates and installs new software applications with user departments,
• Stays current with technology through seminars, educational opportunities, trade magazines, etc,
• Has a working knowledge of all software that the company uses,
• Shares on-call duties with other individuals within Information Services,
• Coordinates and participates in both internal and external user group functions,
• Schedule daily, weekly, and monthly operating procedures for a computer system,
• Develops and maintenance disaster recovery program,
• Develops and maintains networks,
• Demonstrates knowledge of and supports company mission, vision, value statements, standards, and the code of ethical behavior,
• Provide expert guidance, security requirements and design validation for LDAP based authentication and authorization in a heterogeneous network, operating system application environment,
• Performs other related duties as required. 

Qualifications

• Associates Degree minimum in the Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or equivalent experience required. 

Skills

• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills,
• Excellent knowledge of MacOS, as well as general knowledge on all PC peripherals. Having a specialist certification would be beneficial. Knowledge of Linux OS is a plus,
• Experience of networking protocols such as DNS, DHCP, SSH, SMTP,
• Experience and knowledge of Active Directory / LDAP
• Familiarity with Configuration Management Tools,
• Familiarity with the fundamentals of Linux scripting languages,
• Familiarity with load balancing, switches, firewalls, etc,
• Familiarity with Linux servers in virtualized environments,
• Familiarity with LDAP based authentication and authorization for users, Unix, Network, Windows, Apps,
• Familiarity with functional best practices in LDAP based authentication,
• Familiarity with Hierarchical LDAP topologies,
• The ability to agree and then meet deadlines,
• Demonstrative analytical and problem-solving ability, 
• Excellent user service skills, 
• Strong team player mentality,
• Strong understanding of infrastructure and application technologies, including: 
• Virtualization,
• Networking,
• Application servers,
• Automation,
• End-user computing,
• Mobile computing,
• Cloud technologies.
