Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a worldwide provider for sustainable development which assists the German Government in achieving its objectives in the field of international cooperation.

GIZ is currently preparing a new project which supports Bosnia and Herzegovina in mitigating the economic effects generated by the COVID-19 pandemic. For this purpose, GIZ helps Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in metal and wood processing sectors, as well as in tourism, to ensure business continuity despite the negative effects of COVID-19. The project is jointly co-financed by the European Union and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, and implemented by GIZ, UNDP and ILO. 

Support by GIZ is provided along three intervention areas: 

• implementation of occupational safety and health (OSH) measures in supported companies as a condition for business continuity;
• product and business innovation and reorganization/localization of the supply chains to maintain the functioning and increase competitiveness of MSMEs, agri-food and tourism operators;
• a Help Desk system to provide financial and legal advice to MSMEs in the sectors concerned. 

For the abovementioned project, GIZ is looking for a Communication Officer. 

Your tasks:

Overall responsibility for the internal and external communication of one or more projects supporting private sector development in BiH, including 

• development of communication and visibility strategies,
• management of media relations and appearances,
• PR focal point for donors, i.e. European Union; establishing positive working relationships with and managing requests from donors
• coordination of joint PR activities with partners (i.e. UN organizations).

Implementation of communication and visibility measures such as

• drafting/editing press releases, articles, news, etc.
• organization/facilitation of events and workshops
• design and maintenance of online communication channels (website; possibly facebook, twitter, etc.)
• design and maintenance of promotion materials (presentations, brochures, flyers, roll-ups, etc.)

Your qualifications/competences:

• University degree in public relations communication, political sciences, or equivalent qualification
• Min. 5 years of professional experience
• Min. 2 years of experience in strategic partnership management, key account management, donor relations, or similar field
• Proven experience in developing communication/PR strategies
• Proven experience in managing media relations
• Proven experience in running online campaigns 
• Good understanding of private sector/business development based on previous work experience and/or academic background 
• High affinity to ICT and experience in developing and managing corresponding communication tools, such as websites, mobile applications, social media accounts
• Attention to detail; i.e. ability to strictly adhere to rules, guidelines, orthography 
• Ability to express complex content in a clear and concise manner, verbally and in writing
• Positive attitude and ability to motivate others
• Fluent in English; fluency in German considered an asset
• Experience with EU-funded projects will be considered an asset
